The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. quote above reminds us that silence will not deliver the justice that we crave to see in society. On December 1,1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama bus, and she was arrested for doing so. Rosa Parks took a stand against injustice, and a movement that fought for equality among all people was soon to follow in her wake. The leaders of the Civil Rights Movement broke down barriers, and set an example that still resides in the public to this day. The death of George Floyd has fueled a movement against police brutality and the racial injustices that we face in America. George Floyd was described as a "gentle giant". When he and his friends dreamed of their futures, Mr.Floyd would say, "I want to touch the world". His death was brutal, immoral, and inhumane, and he deserved to walk away from that Minneapolis street corner with his dignity in tow. George Floyd's life was valuable, it meant something, but unfortunately it ended at the mercy of four police officers whose job is to protect and serve the people. George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and many more have become the face of a movement that addresses the flaws in the policing of African American people, and it demands change. This movement will push us to continue to strive towards justice and peace among all people.

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

-Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
